I barely recover from the trip to Sac with mom and Rach for the store, and today I'm off to Canby, OR for another educational experience for the store. Thank goodness this is not a long one! Just a quick over-night. But we get to see the Hot Off The Press facility and shop in their warehouse...how cool is that?!
So many opportunities, possible changes and uproar in my life right now:
The kids are most likely leaving the comfort of homeschooling this fall and joining the ICE program in our school district. WOW! Never thought I'd be here!
Bec and her mini company won the opportunity to compete their dance at Hollywood Vibe Nationals in Disneyland in July. We were sure we wanted her to go (or even if we could scrape up the money) but with assurances from the studio that there will be LOTS of fundraising going on I decided she needs to take advantage of this opportunity! And what an experience it's going to be for her!
As a result of the decision to take her to nationals, I've decided I need to go back to work full time (or darn near). Initially, Steve was encouraging me to apply for a casual clerk position at the post office as it was a 90-day temp position that would pay something like $13 and hour. While the money was enticing, I know that's not my thing and I would dread going to work every day. Instead, Mom will lay off our 4 part-time employees for now, and she and I will work the store. She'll pay me 35-40 hours a week and I'll be able to pay for Bec's trip within 3 months. The pay is definitely not the P.O. but it's something I love and something I'm good at. I definitely won't hate going to work every single day.
I'm in the process of figuring out my role in Rhody. I've had all these guilt feelings about my lack of attention to the Festival, but I'm in tossing those aside. I gave my all (and then some) for 2 full years and I deserve to turn my attention in a different direction for a little while. I'm in a quandry whether I want to take on Coronation for '08 or continue to help train royalty candidates. I'm also wondering if I could do both? Or possibly just committing to a few training sessions that I feel are important and I can lend my knowledge to. I don't know, still coming to grips with this one!
So, there are my ramblings on this special day...did you know it's National Scrapbooking Day?!!! Oh yeah and Cinco de Mayo too! I'll scrapbook this morning and have a drink tonight!
